NEWS RELEASE - For immediate release - April 7th, 2008 - Indianapolis, IN - One life sized sculpture by emerging artist Patrick Mack continues its display through April 27, 2008 in the Robots + Us exhibit at the Children's' Museum of Indianapolis. "Yellow Robot Walking Her Little Red Dog", created by Pat Mack in late 2003 as part of an experiment in design, is made of widgets and gizmos welded together to form the life-size figure of a robot walking her robotic dog.

"I created the Robot just for fun for myself, after I made a smaller sheriff from gears and hydraulic cylinders. I thought the Robot might make for an interesting sculpture to greet people at driveway entrance or large estate house front entrance." Put a key pad in the Robot's hands and a camera in its head and it would be the estate robo-butler!
Mr. Mack originally created just the Robot, using interesting parts from motor cycles, old furnaces, and scrap machined parts. The whole Robot was finished in a clear coat to highlight the Robot's metallic color and structure. "The eyes and head were just not right, not friendly, certainly not kid friendly!, says Pat. After consulting with other artists, Pat modified the head to be more human and friendly. Adding the dog and painting the Robot and her dog made the whole piece kid approachable; "More human", said Pat.

"Yellow Robot Walking Her Little Red Dog" was donated as a gift to the Children's Museum of Indianapolis by Mel and Bren Simon, with its first public viewing as part of the Robots + Us exhibit.
